Subject: Little brown spots over the surface of the pumpkin

I posted some pictures in my Diary. If anyone would be willing to take a look and give me some advice - I would be grateful. Normally the little stretch marks and surface scratches heal with that greyish whitish scar color, but all the sudden, they have the look of tiny little rotten areas. Would love to hear from someone who has experienced this before. Thanks, Rod

If it looks like rot, then it probably is. Try spraying the fruit with a weak (less than 10%) bleach & water solution. It will scar up the fruit, but it could save its life.

Rod: That's in the genes. 1139 Sherwood/695 Handy offspring tend to get those little fissures that weep and turn brown. Other than being ugly, shouldn't be a problem. I have a fruit right now that is doing it, too.

Rod, I concur with Frank. It's really nothing to worry about. Keep 'em growing. What are the possible genetics of that other pumpkin? Perhaps the color would give it away.
