Any one know how accurate the ott charts are with Long and Low pumpkins? Got a oversize pickle going and wondering if any have had any experience as to how they weigh out.
Thanks in advance.

a lot depends on your nutrient uptake and of course the calcium levels available to the plant. usually if everything is in order they can go way over the charts because of a small cavity area pap

I had a very similar looking fruit last year. Mine may have been a bit larger in the shoulder area, but had a flat spot near the top from a deformed lobe also. It split at 300# in the blossom. I caulked it and grew it to weigh-off where it taped about 750#. Real close to that...can't remember the exact number. I took the caulk off to load it and we lost about 2-3 gallons of sludge out of the fruit....so it was going down fast. It weighed 783 on the scale. So it went heavy after losing 20-30 gallons of water weight....and being partially rotten.

Yes Mr. T, but Pap's saying something similar to what you've said which makes it hard to "believe":o) ;) GOOD NEWS if it holds true;) Thanks for the replies. ************************************** I wonder if those will weigh closer to the old Circumferance estimations? Mr. T do you recall the measurement of your flat one, and the final weight?

My first year growing last year I thought I had a 300 pounder and was a happy camper for a rooky. Turned out I had a flat side on the bottom where it grew from the ground side. It went very light as it had a really wide circumference. So Circumference was telling me close to 300, it came in at 256. Still not bad for a first season. That is what I have to beat this year. With any luck!

I guess what diamondlady says about her weight estimations makes a lot of sense. Did you take an OTT measurement on that pumpkin diamondlady? I'm just curious if that measurement would have put you closer to the real weight?
