Trying to rember if I read somewhere in here about soaking the cloth that you're covering the fruit with, with Ca. to be absorbed through the skin of the fruit. Makes the ftuit more resistent to splitting?? Also I saw about the milk being used to control PM., can milk be used as the Ca source? I've got some Garden Gypsum can this be dissolved in water and used? I read in an answer from pap that we don't water much around the trunk at this time to prevent stress/splitting, .... So most watering is done through the leaves from here on? thanks Grow em big Klancy

you can water over the top or water underneath its a personal choice. just do not over water around the base of the plant.( the yare under a lot of stress this time of year and will develope some rot or foaming issues quickly
also i would not suggestr watering anywhere unless there is sufficient time left in the day for the leaves to dry off. powdery mildew will show up sooner or later because of the wetness from dew etc, but by not watering to late in the day you are not adding to the situation
calcium sprays on the plant are much more effective than a wet calcium blanket sitting on the fruit. calcium travels very slowly through the plant and can get tied up real easy. when our tissue test indicates calcium is needed we go with the sprays. also --calcium in excess on the spraying will mature the plants leaves quickly. would not spray more than once a week milk --- no, ever smell spoiled milk? you dont want that on your pumpkin - even if it was watered down
