I got too hot today in the patch. I don't think I could of walked back to the house 200 ft away. I had to ride in the truck. I just about went out. Temperature 94.5 °F, Heat Index 107.2 °F here. Remember to drink a lot of water, take plenty of breaks in the shade. Which I did both of and it still snook up on me.

One thing I learned in the army, if you are that hot, pour cool water over your wrists & ankles, it helps cool you.

In fact, I was at Ft. Benning Ga, it got so hot there some of us had to sit out and cool off.

Its sure been hot here in Ohio thats for sure, the humidity is so bad here that all you have to do is go outside for 5 minutes and your soaked.

Its football season for the school kids now, I made sure I told my boy to drink plenty of water while at practice and not to try to be a tuff guy, if he feels hes getting to hot dont be affraid to tell the coach.

I don't mean to make light of your situation and I'm glad you are OK, but could you please send some of that heat out here to Washington. We'd really appreciate it.

I trade you the heat and humidity in minnesota for some of the rain washington always gets, cool cool rain.

I had to make myself come indoors also from near heat exhaustion. I have semi long hair and it was so wet it looked like i took a shower. Dizziness--light headed and weak.
Its getting so hot so early in the morning that you cant even work early. It was 87 by 9 am this morning. 100 today and index 112 and future forcast is higher.
Take it easy Doug.
I been working today 10 minutes at a time and using the riding mower to cut down on all the walking.

Please make sure you are drinking enough water...heat down here is the WORST I have ever seen it. This is not a good year for pumpkins or anything else for that matter. Even the nights are 95 degrees here. Be careful Doug,,I'm letting the pumpkins go before I go...

Plain water is over-rated. Drink something with electrolytes like gatorade. All that water actually can flush the salt / electrolytes from your body which is very very bad. I can't believe this is being discussed on a pumpkin board...ha ha.

I have some experience under my belt. Distance runner in college and a couple marathons under my belt. 70 miles a week running makes the 95 and sunny days in the patch easy. 70 miles a week and several hours in the patch a week = impossible :)
