Hi Everybody.

I have a question about applying liquid fertilizer. lets say you mix the correct amount of fertilizer to the correct amount of water and applie it through a hose. would dilluting the fertilizer like this impead its performance. for example

30 gallons of water & miricale grow mixed to package specifications then add 50 gallons water when applied through hose applicator.

So whould dilluting this mixture make the fertilizer less effective than just the correct mixture.

thanks

Everyone always tells me to just follow the directions. Most think if a teaspoon is good, a cup is better. Then they come back to a burnt plant. Probably works the same in reverse.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong...But if I mix to the proper amount on the package, or I super dilute it and apply it all to the same plant it is still getting the same amount of fertilizer. Like the difference between 10-10-10 and 20-20-20.

We may both be wrong but that's what I was thinking too Shannon. Just like pesticides, the water is just the carrier of the active ingredient, which is fertilizer in this case. We can dilute the proper amount of Merit in 1 gallon or 5 gallons of water and apply it. As long as the area it's being applied to doesn't change, the amount of active ingredient going to the plant is the same. Why would it be different for fertilizers?

I think Craig might be onto something as far as leaching is concerned though....
