If you terminated a secondary but later extended it with a territory vine and grew a pumpkin on it---do you still call the vine Secondary or did you grow the pumpkin on a territory? Reason for asking is cause I noticed some had to extend their accidently terminated Main vine with a secondary and they start calling it their Main Vine. What do we call it if it? My poor Pumpkin patch is so lost. Example. My main vine was terminated at 10 feet and the last secondary on that main vine was also terminated but extended with a territory vine on the secondary so I could grow another pumpkin. What do I call the vine. The Main or a territory? 10 foot of main vine--then 6 foot of secondary--then 6 foot of territory and growing a pumpkin bigger than the one that was on the orignal main vine. So far.

I would call it a mess...:) Honestly the reason for pruning is to devert the plants energy to the fruit and not growth. So it would not really matter.

When filling out a form of how and where you grew your pumpkin, it ask which vine did you grow it on. It may not matter to some but it matters to me. But if no one knows what to call it then I understand. Thank you for trying.

Yes, i used "territory" another word used, and also "third stage growth" So many growers use differant names, it is hard to decide which one to use. Sorry bout that.

OK if you train a secondary as a main...The Main was your secondary. So it is now your main. Your tertiaries are now your secondaries... LOL it is complicated...good thing we got rid of the 25% green rule for a squash that would really throw you.
