I have 350'sq of plant behind my pumpkin (all dead headed) but only 50'sq of palnt in front of pumpkin (still growing). My pumpkin is only 14 days old with 48"c. When should I dead head the front? When I reach a combined 750'sq or when pumpkin reaches a certain size or age?

The book says, most dead head the main vine 8-10 feet past the pumpkin. From what I have read--everyone is differant.
