300 -2B - Peck Pear.. The monstor 'kin that was initially meeting the stats for a 1200+pounder (slowed to 900 pounder @ day 21) - is now slowly seperating itself from the vine. On 1/2 of a vine right now. Still growing very slow - will probably finish out at just 340 (at 35 days of age). I think it will make it until a fair... -BUT- apparently this plant knew it was coming, second 'kin (7/17 chioggia cross) is 78cc @ 20 days. Yep, second one on this plant to meet the 20 day 1200 benchmark. The question is: if it is much bigger than first 'kin when it's 50 days - but not yet over 800 lbs - should I still early harvest and take to state fair? I've already entered..

Then the darned stem/vine apparently 'self-healed' go figure... Will start measuring again this evening... When the temp goes UNDER 100!

Have arranged to take one of the 'smaller' kins that are on sibling plants to two different small local county fairs.. More exact weight measurements on the livestock scales.. (and both county ag ext. offices are willing to discuss future 'heaviest sqaush' classes as well)

Trying to generate more interest around here.
