Will fox urine work to keep the coons away from your corn? It seems like the very first day it turns ripe the coons are trying to get into it. Whats everyone do to prevent there corn from being torn down and corn munched on?

Depends on the Raccoon. Some are brazen & aren't as affected by repellents. I'd try it though.

Dog Poop, use Dog Poop. Course a dog to go along with it helps too but the racs stayed out of my folks corn when the neighbor next door moved in with two big dogs. Course they never picked up the poop either. We may have a coon problem up at Jareds too. Good Luck

I use electric fence and fox urine. I had the best sweetcorn in a long time this year. No coon damage but a few deer did get in until I riased the fence up to 6' high.

I just bought a dozen lil griz getr dog proof coon traps..kinda pricey..225.00 for the lot, but have caught 4 of the bas$%& ards so far, but not before they turned my patch into what looked like a h bomb went off in it..I had 2 strands of hot wire around it and they went right through it..

I don't have coon problems but the corn earworms have sure had at it this season. I dusted once with Seven but should have done it once more before pollen.

chain a dog next to your corn or move your kennel closer.

An elecric fence 6 inches off the ground works for me, without it I would not be able to harvest a single ear. I still have problems with worms and birds though, but at least they leave something left for you to eat, unlike the coons which lay the whole patch to waste. I run another wire at waste height to keep the deer away, around here they love to eat young corn plants.

A good sweet donut or any sweet sugar pastry will attract a big coon every time into the trap, as they are gluttons for sugar. Only seen two big males around in the spring this season no females, so maybe they will move on toward the hills where I relocate them anyway to find the girls, and the sugar......Last season I trapped 3 pregnant females, and they were way more vicious and mean than the males I captured, but the males were pretty mad at my live traps, and bent the steel traps all to heck. Coons are powerfull animals that will take your finger off in a quick snapping bite. Be carefull all who deal with this mean ol critter....Happy growing.

plant white corn varietys. For whatever reason they dont mess with it like the yellow. Years ago I tried bread and butter and the coons thanked me.Anything with yellow in it and 3 days before its ripe the coons will strip it down. Nothing but silver queen or the likes now and I have very little problems............Darryl
