plants have at last started to put some growth on.what i'm wondering is my patch is a lot longer than it is wide.so i'm kind of restricted width ways, but still have at least 80ft of of ground in front.say i grow a fruit 12ft out on the main.can i leave the main to carry on to the end of the plot,so that i get a bit more leaf or should i still terminate it.thanks peter

I vote to let the main grow indefinately. I didn't have many side vines behind my 423lb fruit last year so I let the main go about 50ft up to harvest. It was the only pumpkin that made it to weighoff.
