It's a rainy day and little to do except watch the pumpkin plants float by. Here's a list I compiled of the top 20 growers. It is quite different than the one on the AGGC site.
I took the heaviest pumpkin or squash from each of the best five years they grew (I paid no attention to classification). The average weights are behind their names.
1. Larry Checkon - 1248.2 2. Al Eaton - 1243.6 3. Quinn Werner - 1239.9 4. Bruce Whittier - 1230.5 5. Jack LaRue - 1207.1 6. Steve Daletas - 1190.8 7. Todd Kline - 1181.2 8. Jerry Rose - 1180.5 9. Joel Holland - 1172.8 10. Jake Van Kooten - 1144.4
11. Joe Pukos - 1127.7 12. Stan Pugh - 1122.6 13. Ron Wallace - 1109.6 14. Bill Bobier - 1097.2 15. Winston Wykcoff - 1089.8 15. Kirk Mombert - 1089.8 17. Claude Colbert - 1088.6 18. Jim Ford - 1084.4 19. Gerry Checkon - 1081.5 20. Joe Jutras - 1076.5

Nice job Brad. I'm really happy for all of them especially Jake van Kooten. Jake was the first grower to offer the North Shore Boyz seeds and advice when we were first into the scene...thanks Jake!!
Brad, would it be too much hassle or work to list what State/Province these growers are in to give us a geographical idea of the better growing areas?
Thanks/Glenn

What's happened to Kirk Mombert? Has he given up on pumpkin growing?

And a few guys to watch out for. These growers have all grown at least three pumpkins over 1000 lbs in the past two years. The number behind the name is the number of 1000 lb+ pumpkins grown in the period 2005-2006. In brackets is their highest weight(s).
Dave Pitura (ON) - 7 (1346) Pete Glasier (CA) - 5 (1195) Dick Wallace (RI) - 4 (1450/1327) Jim Sherwood (OR) - 4 (1073) Pierre Slusarek (QC) - 3 (1368/1310) Steve Connolly (MA) - 3 (1333) Kevin Companion (VT) - 3 (1108) John Butler (ON) - 3 (1101)
I might have forgotten some. Feel free to add any.

I think Bill Foss grew three over 1000 lbs, the past two years. One was damaged. He's from MN.

Bill has the patch and the big screen going for him. I've visited his patch and he does a wonderful job. Also this spring his son Ryan released a film on his father growing big pumpkins. It is getting great reviews and it is big-time recommended viewing.
