I need this in laymen terms (broken down even a idiot like me can understand)The measurements? are there three? How, 1. from the stem connected to the plant around to the bottom, and back again, which it would be if it was stood up for carving. 2. around the belly, if stood on its
bottom, that would be but, most of these pumpkins are on there sides,? do you just guess at it going all the way around the pumkin, guestimate, since a small area is on the ground where the tape measure won't go. O'K, do you just add them up and go to the chart or is there a 3rd measurement? Thank You

There are three. All three are the biggest possible measurement (for example, I measure 3 circumferences exact middle, one with left higher and one with right higher, and the largest is what I use....usually not much different)

The measurements are...

1. circumference around the pumpkin parallel to the ground
2. side-to-side is ground, over the fruit, back to ground (sides)
3. end-to-end is like side-to-side but stem to blossom. Does not include stem or blossom.

Nothing under the fruit gets measured. Once you have all 3, add them up, and go to the chart.

It's all good fog, you do have the gift to learn in you! I did teach a woman next door recently how to tell a female from a male and that every flower doesnt produce a pumpkin. It feels good to share knowledge.
