I got my test results back from the UW lab and the problem was diagnosed as Pythium. So I have a little research to do. It sounds like the thick mulch killed us. At this point between the pythium and borers I have about nothing left. One SMALL fruit between 2 plants and that grows with no stump.
Tremor, I put your name in the title as I wasn't sure you were receiving my emails. I appreciate any advise anyone has given and man I sure hope next year goes better than this year.
Fortunately Joe still has 2 very good plants going and now I think we should be able to keep it that way.

Hi Chris,
I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune.
No emails from you in the past several days. Are you using the correct address?
[email protected]
Pythium usually spells a quick finish but it can be prevented with fungicides if timed correctly.

Chris, I'm sorry to hear this as well(your plants looked so nice and healthy in your diary awhile back). Can you elaborate on why you think the mulch caused this?

Doug, my mulch was thick and matty. I don't think it was letting much if any moisture out of the soil. I like the mulch idea, but have to get it right next time. Gotta keep it fluffy and dry. Almost all maple leaves. I put enough bags on that you could pretty much walk across the patch on the BAGS of leaves.
