milford, CT,

This morning I pollinated my 1110 Wallace x 1250 Kline. Nice 5 lober...long stem...looked like it would be a nice pollination. The window for pollinations is closing fast so this was probably my last shot. All was well until at 1:00 pm the National Weather Service calls for a severe thunderstorm and Tornado Watch. The Northern part of Ct got Tornado's...Hail ...80 MPH winds ..but along the coast we got missed. I thought this was a good sign but....at 5:00 pm I went out to check on the patch and low and behold a bird had pecked off the whole blossom of the new pollination but not the pumpkin. I've heard of other growers having problems with birds but this was my first encounter. My question is.....is there any chance this pollination will take? The pumpkin is untouched but the entire female blossom is gone. Grasping at straws....Mark

Maybe?

Dang mark...you irked the Pumpkin spirits this year huh?

Let me know when the asteroid lands in the patch. I like stuff like that.
