I've got one on a 1420 LaRue that started like that. It was 211 OTT yesterday. I'm getting ready to post some photos of it in my diary. Probably won't post here until late tonight but you can see what shape it took. Funny looking.

We grew a pear at the school a few years ago. They never round out. Ours was spot on the chart which isn't what smaller fruit usually do.

Mine is pear shaped this year also. I hope it weighs heavy for us. It's around 350 or so right now, kinda hard to measure though!

A pear shape will likely involve a "dill ring", which can be bad if the walls are on the thin side.

I've had Pears without Dills... Crossed one with a 'Football' that had a 'Baboon butt' - the offspring are now producing 'Baboon footballs' that are starting to develop a bulbious 'pear shape' on the blossom end... Truly an oddity!
