I have'nt noticed before, today I was watering my plants, and I moved the main vine, right under where a leaf stems from the main vine there are white spike like things that go into the ground maybe 3 inchs, I have never noticed it before, neato.

Adventitous roots. Once you have a decent pumper going these will need to be carefully cut so the main vine can rise up with the growth. The rest are good since they keep the system working.

Storm, why are us MSP boys such pranksters? I can't help it, not sure why. Those are TAP roots, good if your basal crown gets nailed by SVB's. In other words, a good thing, make sure to get that main and the taps free so your punk can grow w/o resistance on the stem, the taps will hold it down and split the vine otherwise.

Shannon is correct!!!!! DON'T CUT THEM OFF!!!!

Only remove adventitious roots IF you need to raise the vine around the pumpkin. ENCORAGE those roots everywhere else.
