Don't mulch with grass clippings !
Speak with neighbors about using round-up close by your plants!
Ask kids to play Soccer at other end of field !
Never expect your local weather to be perfect.
When going on vacation, have a sitter for your patch !

-Always use ice around your newly pollinated females (this really pays off) -Start your insecticide spraying early (just before you expect to see the critters).

when you wake up and look outside and see a heavy frost, it might be a good idea to make sure your plants are ok inside the hoops instead of saying ah they will be ok. dang it hurts to loose a 1370 rose and a 670 daigle in one shot after you gave away your backup 1370. Brooks: i am in the same boat as you. I said i was only doing 4 this year. and i have 6.

I started with about 10 down to 4 due to the SVB that happened practically over night and now those 4 are being kept real close eye on.
Oh and what was wrong with mulching with grass clipping? i did that to 3 of the 4 that are still healtly and there doing great.

It is easy to overwater the small young one's and kill them, and to file the seed to close to the inside of the seed.

> Never prune a tertiary or pull a single weed if there's even a remote chance you can persuade someone else to do it for you. Ice cold beverages help.

>Don't try to grow anything in an improvised plastic tunnel with multiple gaps in the plastic, and only 9ft long by 4ft wide by 3 1/2 feet high. Why not?, the tip broke off my vine because it hit the roof, and there is no space for an actual fruit to grow, which has basically screwed me for this year.

I ditto the too many plants.....lol next year Ill plant one less.....lol
Things I have learned......if your going to have 10 plants then in the off season make all your contraptions ahead of time, like pumpkin shade shelters, 500 hangers, sticks, walking boards, .....
Get your Brother hooked ealier so he isnt constanly wanting to dump more ferts on his plant because its smaller.
Spray insecticide before the bugs show up, not after, because they will show up.
Always listen to Paps.
Put up wind fencing earlier because it too will show up.
