has anybody taken soil, tissue and flesh samples, from the same plant, at the same time.
Is it something that would be worthwhile doing, could we learn from it.
I'm thinking of doing all 3, I am letting a few trest. vines grow, and a cull on a side vine. Hope to get tested by the end of next week.
If you think this is a waste a time, let me know.

Paps and Ron have talked about testing tissues......

I've done tissue testing, and also soils, but never done the fruit, and never from the fruit, the plant and the soil, all at the same time.
Possibly this is the wrong time.

Eddy, I think it's a very viable idea in midseason. If enough ppl did these tests and compared results perhaps over a few years we could make decisions based on them,,,midseason corrections in fert/nutrient apps would be very helpful using "science" not our eyeballs and "guesstimates". I have called my lab and getting ready to try the tissue and soil from one plant,,,now that you mentioned the fruit I will check and see if they can test a cull as well,,,,b4 they're gone ;-)

I too wonder about the immature fruit in testing but with no data at this point, at least that I'm aware of, we have to start somewhere,,,,,

I've done soil & leaf tissue tests at the same time. Never bothered testing the fruit but thought it would be cool. I spoke with Al Eaton the year he grew the 1446 but there were concerns about shipping live plant material across the border. Ronny's 1502 might have been easy enough to test but the "cool factor" doesn't account for the expense. The truth is, there are no secrets of the flesh to be unlocked.

eddy --- we have a tissue test due back tomorrow.
we sent a half dozen young leaves ( about the size of a childs baseball glove ) out to u mass via overnite delivery a few days ago
we like the tissue test because it tells us about the nutrient uptake and also if something is missing that the plant requires
it also tells you about the health of your plant re disease etc
the soil we do spring and again in early august
