The Illinois Giant Pumpkin Growers will be having a cookout at the house of Gene McMullen. Gene is one of Illinois most experience and successful growers. With a modest patch of 4 plants in 06 He cranked out two 1100+# last year. I dare to say he is probably the only grower in the world to have his exploits aired on ESPN. Maybe he will allow us to touch (at least see) His Illinois Championship Belt.
Besides being a good grower he is also a gracious host in providing Brats (maybe this can lure some Wisconsin growers) and Hot Dogs and Drinks. Side dishes are up to the rest of us. Put August 18 on your calendar at 12:00. Let Gene or myself know if you plan to come so we can get an ideal of a head count. See you there!

There will be a limited supply of granite dust mined from the patches of Jim Kuhn, Bruce Whitier and Jim, whats his Face... oh yea, Beauchemin. It's a known fact that the Rhode Island Boys make a yearly trip to New Hampshire to amended their patches with NH Gold. The secret is out.
