I cover all my secondaries but like to leave the main vine uncovered just in case I have to move it and to check on it. A lot of different growers even do or dont cover the main. Ive heard of some growers even covering it then uncovering it.

Covering the main keeps Squash Vine Borers off it.

Jason,
I had never heard of Pyola so I Googled it.

Pyola® Insect Spray
Canola oil with pyrethrins-an insecticide from plants for plants
Signature Product Pyola is a broad-spectrum spray that combines pyrethrin, a long-popular insecticide derived from chrysanthemum flowers, with canola oil extracted from rapeseed. Unlike most pesticides, it controls all stages of a pest insect's life cycle, including eggs.

Pyrethrin is not as long lasting as this marketing stuff would have us believe but it is fast & pretty effective.
I'd be very careful in warm weather especially with the "canola oil" they've added to this preparation.
I think it will help but Pyola wouldn't be my first choice. SVB are tough customers so I carry a little bigger stick when dealing with them.

Hey Tremor thanks for the answer. I first sprayed with Pyola because its sussposed to control the eggs. I only spray when its cool out with pyola. Ive heard Ortho Max for vegatables is preety potent I wonder if its any good for those pests. I might re think my strategy and cover my mains to help prevent them from a entrance point.
