While was watering this morning I was listening to an old Paul Simon song, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover. In the middle of the song I broke off one of my side vines accidentally (it was ten feet long so I wasn't too upset)...but it inspired me to start this post! Let's see if we can come up with "Fifty Ways To Ruin Your Pumpkins." Perhaps it might help some of us keep from making bone-headed mistakes.

don't leave your unexperienced wife to uncover your pumpkins plants at the beginning of the season or she just might knock the hoop house down that breaks your main vine at the stump. Give her a three day pumpkin class 101 on how to lift the plastic up from each side corner and pin it up instead of trying to lift the entire hoop house with the poles still in the ground off your plant. Teach her this before letting her step into your patch, you will thank yourself later,,,,,,,(I still cant make myself forgive her for this) is Coy next? lol

Spray Round-up and then your favorite fungicides in the same backpack tank.
"You just slip out the back Jack, make a new plan Stan, you don't need to be coy Roy, just set yourself free. Hop on the bus Gus, you don't need to discuss much, just drop off the key Lee, and set yourself free."

Give your vines some slack Jack, keep that stem dry with a fan Stan, if she splits you'll say "oy" Roy, your pumpkin's resting in peace. Hop on the patch tour bus Gus, you'll learn and discuss much, easy with the 0-0-60 Lee, or your season ends prematurely.
