hey chicken legs, no your season is not over. you can train the secondary closest to the break as your new main. i have done this before and could hardly tell the difference. doug Jn 3:16

Should I bury the broken end into the soil?

Hi Chicken Legs, yesterday my main vine broke also. I think that the 50 degree morning took it's toll on a main that wanted to grow straight up instead of along the ground.
Bury the broken end of the main and train the secondary closest to the break as your new main. Good Luck.

Legs, my main snapped earler in the year. I have about 10' of main vine, and what I am doing is creating a wishbone off of that main with the last 2 secondaries. Those secondaries are out an additional 8' and I have pollinated on both of those psuedo main vines. It seems to be working well.

If the main is not snapped completley through the vine, you can mend the vine by holding it togther with a makeshift splint. In a week or less, it will have repaired itself and keep on growing.
