In sevear heat, pumpkins can have a hard time setting so growers tend to cool them so they wont abort, But what about colder and rainy weather? Does this have any effect on pollinating. Is there an ideal temp. for pollinating and would warming and keeping a female dry increase your chanses of succes if the weather isnt playing along?. Just wondering...

cool summer weather will not effect pollination success. if it rainy cover the female with a plastic sandwich bag the night before and cut a couple males and bring them inside for the night. keep female dry when pollinating then recover the pollinated fruit with that sandwich bag until the rain stops
