I keep mine closed untill the flower eventualy drys up and falls off. I had no problems with hat.

Ya I usually leave the tie or cover over until the petals start to fall off. The female flower is only receptive for the one morning and they usually are closed by that evening. 24 hours is what I usually do minimum.

If you keep them closed up any longer then pap says, they tend to mold or rot up.

I see, guess I didnt see that here in our dry humidity climate but Ill try it, I had left them on for a couple of days.
