It's official! Triazicide and Seven provide 0% protection against SVB. The only Curcubitas on my farm that weren't protected with Merit - were 5 Zuccini plants. 3 of them I used Triazicide, 2 of them I used Seven.... Managed to harvest just three Zuccini off them - before they were 100% dead due to SVB larval infection...

I've got a rampant SVB problem on my property. If you look at last year's diary - I had a true 'swarm' of 100's-1,000's of SVB females during late June-July. My kids enjoyed catching 100's of them with butterfly nets! And that didn't even make a dent.... Thus, my decision to take Tremor's advice - and even put pelleted Merit in my seed starting medium! Make those plants TOXIC to ANYTHING that munches them..

So far, there's NO SIGNS of SVB larval infection of either my commercial 'kin/ornamental patch - nor the GP/squash research patch... Both of which are treated with granular (root uptake) and foliar (leaf uptake) Merit - 3-4X per month.

Yep, I'm still 'organic'... he, he, - use 'organic Merit'...Thanks for the advice Tremor - I FINALLY listened!

I have never had any issues with triazicide. I have used it for the past three years and did not lose 1 plant to svb's. This year I am useing warrior for better protection mainly from cuke beetles and rain fastness.

Got to remember Sevin and Triazicide are contact herbicides.

It's official! You didn't apply the correct concentration of Triazicide! 2x label instructions applied to vine and leaf stalks = dead SVB.

Are there any SVB'S in California SF bay area?

Wow. I'm surprised that the Triazicide & Sevin alone didn't work if the rate, timing & application technique were all correct.

I'm glad the Merit combination strategy worked for you though!

Followed label directions, even sprayed more often than specified (adding 'after EVERY rain storm' to the 7-10 day label directions)

Read my diary entries for more information on the continued battle against the SVB ARMY.... I had 100's-1,000's females SWARM on my farm about this time last year! So this has been prepared for all winter - since it was expected.. Great place to test the different pesticides! Guess it was those 10 years of 'organic pest control' - that allowed them to reproduce to these extreme levels... he, he, he.. Getting what I encouraged for all those years!

Now the SVB are hitting the 'Melon medly' patch. Sprayed Ortho Max Veg spray (can't remember the pesticide compound in it - but it's NOT Seven, Triazicide nor merit... so another compound is being 'tested').. I'm rather surprised they're going after the Melon mix - usually they bypass these slender vines for the 'big juicy Squash/kin vines'...

So far - no signs of any SVB damage in the two 'kin/squash patches treated heavily with Merit...

On a 'good' note - the kids are THRILLED that the Zuccini plants are DOD... wonder why?
