My 1420 plant had a side vine 6'long that looks like it literally exploded last night about 4 inches back from the tip. Looks like a clean break but the end of the vine looked like a banana peel pulled back. I had 2" of rain the night before and another .3 tenths last night. Other than that the plant looks very healthy (at the moment). What can cause this?

Mark, sorta sound like ya already know the answer???
Lots of H2O has to go somewhere, I had a small pollinated one, ooze jelly like stuff, on the morning after 3" of mother natures finest. That one is history!!! Hope the next time it rains 2", yer ready for any oddity that might happen!!! Including explosions in the middle of the night!!! Seriously, that is a lot of water to absorbe, without something happening...hope this helps. Peace, Wayne

Thanks Wayne, I figured thats probably what it was. It always amazes me how strange these plants can be. That plant is covering the better part of 500 Sq ft and it all blows out of one small secondary. I checked everything on the rest of the plant. No other problems. Go figure.

Wow, Did you notice an increase in length between the leave junctures? On either the main or any secondaries... Say from 6" to 7,8?

Wiz, one thing I can tell you is basically ALL the vines including the main had a heck of a growth spurt at that time! Glad I didn't have a good size punkin there to split out.

Was there any white foam coming out of it?

Tremor, no white foam. Nothing abnormal. As of today the plant still looks great.
