I've heard about people using stored pollEn before, after keeping in in the fridge or freezer. Mostly I think they save it from the same growing season. Not sure how long pumpkin pollEn keeps though, maybe someone with experience with storing pollEn will chime in.

It didn't work for me, and I used the freezer, and added desiccant to the containers.

I cant say I know for sure about pumpkin pollen, but...
Storage of orchid pollen is fine for a coulpe months in a fridge with controlled humidity. Orchid pollen has also been successfully stored cryogenically (around -196 degrees) for years in liquid nitrogen.
Note that there is no real decrease in pollen viability. To prevent damage, it is recommended to dry first for a day. Do NOT over dry though. Using a dessicant such as silica gel has been known to "kill" pollen of many plants.
