Joe Ailts and I had a great start this year. Unfortunately both of us seem to be dealing with yellowing / dying plants. I just posted a pic in my diary. These plants were all subjected to quite a bit of heat early June. I wonder if the heat terminated growth then the plant is dying from that or if we both have similar disease issues. Please we'd appreciate any suggestions.
My 364 webster has 2 yellowing / wilting vines. Joe's entire 1030 plant looks like the picture I posted. NOT GOOD.

I'm up against the same problem. I'm going to shade the plants to see if that will help. It's been HOT in the Rockies.

Very good chance it's Fusarium root/crown rot. I just pulled a plant that was worse than the one in your diary. The roots were in terrible shape.
I'm surprised Joe hasn't identified it.

Thanks for the suggestion Monty. Joe is out on business right now so I'll just ask what can cause Fusarium? Joe and I grow about 13 miles apart, but we both used cow manure from the same location. That's about all we have in common as far as soil's concerned. The stumps themselves look great. I've not yet dug into the soil. I'll search around a bit also.

Sometimes manures can hold herbicides....That are sprayed on pastures.

Thank you for the replies thus far. A little more background information- Last fall both of us spread a layer of leaves collected from the local city as a mulch over the entire patch. The possibility of Nitrogen deficiency has been posed, as the microorgs may have it tied up in the mulch decay process?
Monty- this one has me stumped. Never had to deal with major disease in the patch. Im learning fast tho!
Shannon- the manure came from our own farm, no chance of Herbicide. Thanks for the suggestion tho, we'll take anything at this point.

I found a BUNCH of grubs while digging around this morning. One spot had about 10 in a sqft. I'm going to post a picture in my diary of the grubs as well as my yellow vine on 364.
So since it's too late this year I assume....are the grubs something I need to worry about every year or is this a one year deal from the leaves / manure? Merit now or next year?
