Yo ! If only I could teach the deer to crap around my plants after they eat The Wiz'z plants, then I might not need to worry learning about compost tea. Oh that's right folks ! The Wiz'z powers are strong but what attracted them?? I'm thinking.........LongBeard ! A spell casted from the sorcery of the white bearded one !!

You're not going to believe me LonBeard but less than two weeks ago we had two elk a couple blocks from my house. Hope they don't find the patch too !

This is the first year Ive seen deer near my patch and I dont like it.I took a shot at a couple of them the other day but there back. The old timers around here say to cut up slices of Irish spring and spread around the yard at thats sussposed to help. Ive never heard of it though maybe they just dont like to shower.

I had deer problems in the past. If you live in the country human hair from salon works. As well as pet hair. I use those used electon wire frames palced them over the pumkpin with old panty hose filled with dial soap and hair. Works well. However if you move closer to polpulated areas the hair won't work. When I moved into the city, dial soap, human and animal hair, preditor urine did not work. A 7-8 ft high strong fences works very well. But this can be expensive to make.

Yes the deer indeed took a bite out of the 1175 Bowles on Bowles....and stepped on a secondary, so I was quite lucky not more happened.
Question to the masses??? We sprayed fish and seaweed that nite and put out over 100lbs of coffee grounds, do you think they may have been attracted to the smells? They left the young tender corn alone but I saw tracks where it took a bee line to my 1175 plant and took a good bite out of one of the leaves, those were no LongBeard foot prints......

Fabric sheets like bounce, the smellier the better, hang around the patch. Some people say they work great.I have a dog that works good.

Had deer problems myself this year for the first time in five years of growing. They always walked through the patch in the past without bothering the plants, but we're dealing with a drought this year.
I've found mothballs to be effective so far.

just moved this year to the country to grow more punks and have found deer to be my biggest pest. i noticed they had taken a few bites out of the leaves on a back-up plant but have left them alone since. however my competion tomatoes have been pruned enough by these cloven hooved devils that my tomatoe year is over.time to set the claymores. lol

the deer beheaded the sunflowers and most morningglories here before I closed up the perimeter...AG's were still in hoophouse. Next nite they jumped the 5'fence and finished off where they began. They haven't jumped the 7' deer mesh fence laced with tin foil flags, orange winter driveway stakes, and electric wire barrier...claymores next...LOL!

I looked again last night, now we never no what we may find and I noticed a bit more damage to this plant....Im sure the deer noticed all the nice corn growing....and oh look a tomatilla too.....The owner of Jareds says there is a den of coyotes on the nusery too so that will help. Will try putting up some scents and hope for the best......

I found some cayenne pepper with a 120 rating (normal street version is 40) at a herb store in town. Horticuturalist ordered it to keep animals away. I am trying it in the garden right now. it is going for .70 an ounce, what a great deal just keep it away from your skin and eyes.
