This is a huge link but it will tell you all you need to know about svb's. Also watch for cucumber beetles, and "stink bugs". Anything that is damaging your leaves or vines. Check the bottoms of your leaves. Darren

SVB are actually moths, but they LOOK just like wasps w/bright red 'butts'.. And are active during the day.
I've tried everything: from organic methods, to seven dust - and now I'm using Merit products. (Tremor's advice).. This is a systemic pesticide (absorbed in plant's tissues - thus anything munches on plant = dead).. My ecologist consultant has advised that systemic is actually BETTER for the environment - since you don't kill the beneficial insects..
Bayer makes a systemic 'lawn' spray - active ingredient is basically Merit by it's chemical name. I'd recommend using it over the other methods I've tried..

Bayer makes a Merit product specifically for trees. Gives 12 months of protection from anything that munches them. Available at most Lowes. I've started using it on my evergreens due to bag worm attacks - as well as my Cannas due to moth larva attacks....
