I just was wondering when you all make a cull do you ever think you could be cutting off the next world record mabey it didnt hit the rapid growth stage to really prove its self.So any of you think you could have culled a next world record ever....???
Thanks!

Jordan - I dont know the anquish others have when culling, but i have none. I dont care about the fruit i cut, and it is NEVER a hard decision. I remove them to place others in a better position on the plant. No matter what you set, the real chore is in getting the plant to grow it as big as you can. Its not about finding the pumpkin on a plant that is predetermined to be a world record pumpkin and pollinating it. LOL. Bye the way, your plants are looking better. Good job.

I sometimes feel bad after a cull, but what makes me feel better is after I cull it I throw it up in the air and hit it with a baseball bat,or sometimes Ill use a old rusty golf club I have in the barn and play golf with it for a while untill its unusable, sometimes Ill cut off my culls while my wife is standing there and give her a 3 second head start to start running before I beam her with it.( I always miss on perpose though, except that one time.)

Jordan, I think most of us try to pick the best growing pumpkin, if we have a few pollinated on the same plant. Maybe a world record or two have been culled in the past, no way of knowing.
Brooks, Thats funny! I grow without synthetic chemicals, so I sometimes take a bite out of the culls, and eat it...not too bad. Maybe I could fry up the culls, like zucchini.

Reason why I ask about the bread is because after I cook the pumpkin cull bread and take it out of the oven Ill make sure my lovely wife of 13 years is there standing beside me, then all I have to do is smile at her and look at her funny and then start the count down,1,,,,2,,,,,
