Heres a question I bet growers would like to know, including me.
You might not have even pollinated one this close before but if you have what is the biggest pumpkin you guys have grown when pollinated a female say less the 8 or even 6 feet out on the main vine? Any 1000 lbers or over?
( Updtate on your 1068, its growing like a weed, I have a female out at 6 ft and one right around 11 ft.)

I think Roger Wentzell grew one at the 6 ft mark.

Brooks, I know Kevin Companions 1002 from last year was only 6ish feet out. Just proves the 1073 seed has very good genetics.

11 ft stay --- 6 ft must go ---- dont be impatient/ ----- if you want to be a champion you must do whats right.
get a good size food factory before the fruit and when everyone else is topping out at 25 a day you will be at 35 ( or more )

Brooks, The biggest one in Canada last year (1355.5 Marion) was grown just a little over 3 ft from the stump.

But I with th eothers...wait for one further out!! DAN

Thanks Pap, I plan on waiting until at least 10 to 12 feet(or more) out on my starter plants, especially the 1068.
Sheshhhhhhhh! Phil and Dan, now thats amazing and first I have ever heard of something like that!!, I can just see that pumpkin getting so big that the main and stump is almost pulled from the ground, I bet that main was like a banjo string!!
I do have one around 3 feet on my 556 Bosworth plant, I think Ill play around with it and try to get one to grow at this 3 ft mark just for shiz and gigglez.
I also have a double main on another plant I want to mess around with to see what kind of weight it will bring me. I can grow a pumpkin off this double main vine I have growing as of now, I just hope it don't get real gnarly to where I cant. I'm gonna relax a little this year and have fun with a few plants, seems like it takes a little pressure off knowing a couple plants are being grown for fun.
