I know that my Eaton842 looks like it almost flat vined 1/2 way along the main vine in my last diary post, but it looks worse than it actually is. If seen from another angle, it doesn't look so ominous. It's main is growing nicely with no signs of mutating for now.

Rob,
It looks like your 842 Eaton plant is a double vine on the main. It looks like it has two leaves and two tendrils at the same node. Does the very new growth appear this way as well?

I looked at the picture again and said to myself "uh-oh". After work I went home and low and behold, you are right. The main looks normal until you get close and realize there are 2 leaves and 2 tendrils at each junction. It hasn't split into 2 vines and I can't decern a border between the two, so I'm not planning to touch it until it decides what it's going to do. Good pick up. A classic case of not seeing the forest for the trees(or the mutant pumpkin plant for the cucumber beetles).
