Did anyone catch the show Uprooted today and the focus on the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest??

Great TV show and just wondering who the local farmer named Luke was (giant pumpkin grower) who let RyKr sleep in his barn....dude could have given him a couch!!

Anyone have more details?

Luke's last name is Charbonneau and he and his parents own and operate Hi-Berry Farms (a farm gate business) on the Highway which runs through Port Elgin. He is also our youngest ever town councillor. Hi-Berry's grows the lion's share of the pumpkins we decorate the site with and sell at the festival. It was Rykr's idea to sleep in the barn - they wanted to do something different. It was fun having him at our event but personally, I feel they omitted a large portion of the festival, although they did do our tourism angle justice. This show has been running regularly since about April - I'm glad to hear they are still airing it - I think he has filmed six episodes for his pilot - Pumpkinfest was the first one.

Thanks for the details. They made it look like the barn was all that Luke offered Rykr in return for his farm labour and haircut.

Was nice to see them harvesting some giants and I thought the show gave Port Elgin alot of good publicity and it certainly did show alot of the giant pumpkins at the weigh-off.

Thanks again for the details/Glenn
