None of my females are opening, just rotting on the vine
Weird, I just don't understand pumpkins.

Too much nitrogen and/or heat will cause females to abort. I say lay off any fertilizing if you are fertilizing. Also, I have buckets which I attach ice packs to the bottoms of and flip and cover the female to keep cool. doesnt hurt to put under an umbrella over the bucket for shade too.

Larry, I've been experiencing this in my patch as well due to the excessive amts of rain we have recvd. 10.5 inches of rain in May (8 inches of that came in a short 6 day period!). Now that we are beginning to dry out a bit, these ladies are more willing to cooperate. Have you had large amts of rain there as well?

I dont know the right answer. I can only tell you what I did. I had no females at all. I bought Bloom burst by Expert. 10-52-10 and I used it 1/2 strength for a week then all of a sudden i had a female on every vine this morning. I had to pinch the secondaries off. (9 females) I dont know if the bloom burst did it or if it was just a co-winkie-dink.--was gonna happen anyway.
Good Luck

Jessica!
We have had lots of rain on and off. Also I have really hit the plant with compost tea.
Guess I messed up!
