I have been looking at my plants this yr. Both are growing well. It seems to me that the west side of both plants Sidevines that are in my main patch are growing faster than the sidevines on the east side. That is to say one side of the pumpkin plant is growing faster than the other. My question is if you have ever noticed one side of the plant growing faster and if you did do you think it makes a difference on which side the pumpkin is set on?
It would seem to me at first glance it would be better to have the pumpkin on the more vigorous side but then again maybe the other side of the plant will put more power in the Pumpkin. Just something I have been wondering about !

Jon, you bet that happens, alot of growers only grow their plants a certain direction because of exactly what your talking about.

SO do you prefer the pumpkin to be set on the side that is growing faster or the pumpkin to be set on the side that is slower?

Oops, sorry Jon, forgot to mention which way I like for my plants to grow. I prefer my plants to grow northeast to southwest seems to me they sun hits the plant better growing this way, the plant is growing to the warmest point at all times from morning to evening. So I prefer my plants growing faster, headed for the sun when it comes up in the morning and then kinda heading twards the sun when it goes down.
Couple years ago I run into one side of my plant growing better then the other side(secondaries), the side that grew the slowest was the side that never received any morning sun until 9am. Which way is your plants facing Jon? You getting any morning sun?
