I have been using Grass clippings as mulch. It is good let the grass heat up and cool before you apply. I have no fungus issues with grass. Watch when it is 3-4 inches thick on a slight grade it is slippy to walk on.

rotting ,decaying, stinky grass clipping covering the soil around your giant pumpkin plants? i would not advise doing that.
if you want to use them around tomatoes or peppers ,etc, fine, but to much disease and bacterial problems can develop if your using it around any competition plants.

I have been telling a fellow grower not to to this but he thinks I am crazy, so I told him I would post the question. I don't do this.

I wont use grass clippings anymore, I had some brought in and they contained spider mites, very hard to get rid of them after that.

I use grass clippings as mulch, but I spread them very thin. Just enough to cover the ground to hold down the weeds until the leaves shade things out. As long as they aren't spread too thick, they dry out and don't get rotten and stinky. I don't use any chemicals on my lawn, so I don't have to worry about that.

make sure they are not treated with a herbicide. I lost some good plants to this a few years ago.

Ditto what Iowegian said we use them for a thin mulch they worked great and we grew an 1112 pounder with no ill effects from the clippings.
