well howdy all,
hope all is fine and growing in the patches....the hot weather here i think has taken a toll on our plants... i'm pretty much sick to my stomach about it, so i figure i'll know more later on, if the season has ended right out of the starting gate....too late to start plants and get them in the ground for competition in barnesville in sept....hopefully the good man above can spare us, i'm gonna try and call around and see if anyone had any plants that they would like to part with....never know, someone might....
well thanks for hearing me out and letting me vent my frusrations.....

Crittle,
Try shading your plants if you haven't already. Shade helps to hold moisture. And don't over-water. I've experienced a bit of bad luck myself this year and considered giving up. But the season is on again and plants are doing well. Good luck.

the plants were in the hoop house under very close supervision, the hoop house got way to hot....but pappy thought maybe he caught it in time, so we are just gonna sit back and keep our fingers crossed...the fan was running and they had water, but like i said it got way to hot for them to handle...the shade tarp was over the hoop house and they wasn't overwatered, so it's just the luck of it....so if it's the end of the road, better luck for us next year...this would be our 4th year of growing and you think that you have it down but then something rears it's ugly head and bites ya in the butt...lol......

I don't know about this year. First cooler then normal, then hotter then normal. I think my plants have finally started to take off, but it took awhile.

It ain't over till its over. Last year my favorite plant (1200 Trumm) was nearly wiped out the first day in the patch by cuke beetles. Then it was nipped by frost in Mid May. It sent out a double vine, then got a lengthwise split. Later it developed a crosswise vine split. In the meantime, the mosaic virus the beetles brought in wiped out over half our patch. I had a 500 pounder split in early August while it was headed to 1000. Still that 1200 Trumm kept on and grew me a new personal best. Don't give up yet.
