Here some advice. Start your garden now for a successful giant pumpkin growing year, make sure that the compost from last year (If you put any in) and shuffle and spread around. For BIG pumpkins and more vitamins make a mound of where you will plant the pumpkin plant. Then cover it w/ dirt, make sure all the weeds and harmful plants are digged out. Plant or transplant the pumpkin to its pernament enviroment and cross your fingures for the best season yet!

I failed to get a soil sample sent out in the fall like we're supposed to so I sent one out a few days ago. I may not have enough time to totally fix any problems but at least I'll know where the soil is at.

Thats true, but I think you can still fix your garden if you start now. You might need to go to the nearest Garden Store to find the product you need if your garden needs some work. So, you can still fix your garden before you plant! Have a great Giant Pumpkin Growing Year!--Grant

amy maybe not true if soil ph is off dolmite lime or fast acting lime can sweeten soil quickly but leaches out quickly if you have to acidify soil add sulfur to bring up n-p-k levels fertilize if you can find rotted manure or have compost better late than never i like to add as much organic matter as possible to help hold water plus it's cheaper than vermiculite or pearlite or some of the other soil amendments anyway talk with the people that did your soil test they can help you with specific needs of your soil
