OK I will tell you one thing Copper is used as a herbicide in ponds to retard algae growth. Some plants do not tolerate copper. Namely trees.

Old trick, used mainly on potted plants. Hot melt glue pennies around the pot and slugs won't cross the pennies. Those in the Oregon area take note. By the time them plants get bigger there will be a couple bucks worth of pennies in Jordan's patch. LOL

Screw copper pipes to the planks supporting a raised bed and you will not get any slugs coming from outside in. You just have to get rid of the slugs that are already in the soil.

I never have slugs because I leave my beer cans outside around the patch with a little beer in there and slugs like to crawl in and die.

A penny saved is a penny earned ! A penny in the patch is worth a 1K fruit ?

You can also buy copper in a ribbon form at Lee Valley Tools that are used to fight slugs, we use them in our veggie garden and have never had a problem

find a electrician friend, ask for scrap #12 or #14 wire, any size for that matter, strip it and lay on the ground. Worse comes to worse buy some roamex at home depot 14/2 then you have three strips of copper per foot that you buy, the ground is already stripped you just have to strip the white and the black. I also use left over roamex to tie up tomato branches etc.
