What exactly is the problem with a vine that is ribbon or doubled? And is there a difference between the two? Does it effect pumpkin growth?? Thanks all. Why is it hated

here's a picture of a ribbon vine i had last year. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=51574 the problem was that it was very unmanageble with all the tendrils and extra leaves on it. i don't mind a double vine. i was able to fix two of them and had one grow out of the condition. it ended up growing my 1302 last year.

Steve's picture was a ribbon. those will keep getting wider and tougher to handle.
A double vine is basically 2 vines fused together. A lot of times they will correct themselves.

Try to find a normal secondary that does not ribbon...if that does not work pound your head on the ground until it feels good. I have had one ribbon and one spriral that both should have been culled just to save the head aches.

the picture i posted of the ribbon vine was just after i cut it off at the base. does that give you an idea of what to do with it. lol
