So, what do you make of this? I see 9 lobes on this flower!

I pollinated it yesterday. Is this a conjoined twin pumpkin? And if so, has anybody had a good experience growing one?

Good looking Blossom but it looks like a double (not 100% sure) Doubles tend not to grow well but If I were you I'd see how it goes for a while before deciding wether to get rid of her or not.

The Stem itself I believe is the clue. It looks very wide almost ribbon like. The thing that is odd it does not appear to split. The Lobes Look Excellent. I would have pollinated it just to see what it does. I don't think I would make this the only pumpkin on my plant though. I have never heard of a good siamese Atlantic Giant making it to the end and a scale.

go for it pollinate that bad girl, you can cull later, if it doesn't work out, no its one female, and not ribbon vined, but is very special, do one thing first check for seeds in blossum if none, what do you have to loose nothing, and every to gain, no opinion just a thought. hope it works out great for you!

Lol got that right Wayne, and hot dang glad Steve sent me two of them 897's He's a very cool guy, just look at the 1248 ford. and many others, i like his 805 also 723x 897. please give me a 9 lober he he i'll take it. almost looks like you have 4 sets of chromasones not mutant. i was once told if the flower lobes have seeds in it dont pollinate it, well ive pollinated several all turned out great, and very good seed count. So take what you want from this thread, and leave the rest, most of all do what works for you, great luck, congrats, grow a monster, then a seed germ test, may have to foster it for a couple of years, and id like to make a seed request with a seed of your choice that are mine when the time comes . Thank you in advance, i'll get back to you in private. 9 lobes interested me to make a post you wont see many. I hope you pollinated it, and great success.

I did pollinate her, with several gentlemen from my 1180 Daletas. She appears to be growing so far! I'll keep pics updated. And Roger, you're welcome to seeds if she makes it to the end.

And you were right Dan, this plant seemed to get off to a bit slower start than the others, but has quickly caught up! A very nice plant, can't wait to see what it does for you.

She is on a secondary vine. I just happened to let this one grow because I wasn't seeing ladies on the main vine and wanted to have one on the first set of secondaries just in case. I was able to pollinate one on the main yesterday morning that is about 13-14 feet out (and another prospect should be ready next week). Another grower suggested that I could simply cut the secondary from the main later so as to not compromise my main vine fruit. I think that I'll plan to do that. Anything I should be doing to prepare for that?

Thanks!!

Jessica - you can start to bury the secondary vine so it starts to develop a root system in-case you decide to seperate the secondary vine from the main vine. Hope it works for you.

Thanks Dean, I actually just returned from the patch where I did bury the secondary vine in a mixture of cotton burr compost and composted chicken manure. I have pruned all tertiary growth from this vine of course, and had terminated it as well. I guess I'll let that little tertiary nub at the end of the vine grow to act as the new main tip.
