I have heard about which direction to plant a vine depending on how the first true leaf comes out, but I forgot and I can't find that information. I'm sure many of you know. Thanks.

The theroy is that it will go the opposite way of the first true leaf. I have heard that you can slightly tilt the plant as you put it in the ground the help that.

I've never really found that "opposite the first true leaf" rule to be too accurate. I find that the best way is to nudge it towards the direction you want it to go, and use a few little stakes to hold it that way. Then gravity should do the rest.

I plant mine at a 45 degree angle, they'll go in the direction they're pointed. Once the main vine starts to run you can use stick to help guide it in the direction you want.

Our main vines have always gone the opposite of the first true leaf.
