Are you keeping the temperature between 85-90°F?

If so & the soil isn't too wet then seeds germinate (on average) in 3-5 days. They'll take another few days to emerge from the soil.

Yo Legs, Careful on the watering! Most will dampen the soil initially and cover pot w/plastic wrap to reate a mini green house type environment until plant breaks ground, when watering may be resumed as needed. Last Sunday all seeds germed in paper towels were potted, tented w/plastic on heat mat set around 85* and today they're pushing up soil. Heat plays a big role getting things going. Best of luck, Duff

It should take 24 hours to up to a week. If the seed starts to smell, it probably rotted. If you did not keep heat on it germination may take longer. I use a light bulb over it. Crude but works. Be careful if you decide to tear off the shell yourself and do not dig the dirt to see if there are roots! There are support groups for that.

Where are you from in MA. I am on the CT border south of Springfrield and there are great growers on each side of the Mass Pike, topsfield and Pittsfield if you need help. Also, plenty of clubs in the northeast.

It can be two or three days up two twelve sometimes. Mine usually break ground after four days. As soon as the soil cracks real good I take them off the germination mat then put them about two or three inches under lights and they take off like wild flowers. Dont spray too much just a little misting seems to work fine.

chicken, most if not all experianced growers soak their seeds first, from what i am reading they are giving advice for that starting method.

So if you did not soak first, you will need more moisture than most others. if you can find a heating blanket or some way to keep the seeds warm that will help

my first year growing i did actually sprout some seeds in the garden a-natural, no soaking no filing no out side heat source BUT it did take at LEAST a week to 10 days to pop out of the ground here in sunny nor-cal
