Just my quick observation that might be useful to all of us trying to get our seeds to germinate. I know this is not the seed starting thread but I want all to see this. We talk allot about how long it is taking for our seeds to germinate, some say push the heat others say give it more time and so on. On thing I feel needs to be explained a bit more when one talks about this is the method of how one germinates. I would hate to see peoples seeds cooked to death because of a miscommunication. What I'm talking about is this, when one says put the heat on it ask first how one is trying to germinate their seeds. If you are using an advanced seed starting method (baggie and paper towel) 90 degrees on the heat mat and in the baggie may not be the same temp as 90 degrees on the heat mat and in a 5 inch peat pot or a larger pot. I start my seeds at around 82 to 85 degrees in a baggie raised up on cookie cooling racks over a heat mat. If I push the temp to 90 I will cook my seeds. Just my two cents worth. I know when I first started growing the whole seed starting thing was a bit tricky and I just want to see everyone be successful when trying to start the season off. So push the seeds just be careful!

So what are you saying John..."What Doesn't kill them does not make them stronger?"

John, I thought the advanced seed starting method begins with peeling the shell off the seed? Soil temp thermometers are fairly cheap and a definite growin tool that everyone should own. Peace, Wayne Sucess for everyone would be a good thing!!!
