Hi everyone.
It was finally announced at the spring seed starting party on Sunday, but since I got exactly zero responses from the new growers there, I am also presenting it here.
Put simply, it is a program based in the SNGPG, I am the director of the program, and the organizer. It's purpose it to help either totally new growers, or maybe just ones that have been "lone growers" for years, not knowing there are others like them all around.
My friends locally in the club were very generous with their response to be mentors (and it's worth mentioning many are the world's best), but what we want now is people who want to be mentorED. New mentor volunteers are also welcome and appreciated, especially ones that aren't necessarily in our small territory here in Southern New England.
The program's goal is to set up mentors with growers who need mentoring, IN THE SAME LOCAL AREA. Email and websites are great, as we see right here on bigpumpkins, but I don't think anyone would deny that visiting a growers patch, and having them visit yours, at the VERY LEAST several times a year is how champions are taught. So, the only requirement for any kind of participation in this is membership in the SNGPG, and a love for our sport.
If you would like to be mentored, please contact me through email, regualr mail, or phone. I will take down your location, experience, and a few other basic pieces of information. Same deal if you want to be a mentor, contact me, you don't have to be a champion to mentor either, as long as you know more than you did when you were just starting. Also, if you need to become a member of the SNGPG, I can put you in touch with the right person. Tell your friends, especially ones who may not see this message, it's a great oppurtunity to learn. Thanks,

Oops, probably obvious, but let's be sure, if you leave a phone message, and it only consists of your name and number, mention that you would like to be mentored, or be a mentor. Just so I know I'm calling a pumpkin grower back, not my boss on a new number or something.
