I need to know when I should germinate my seeds? I really need advice when to start the process and then put outside. Also, could I use ash from my burn barrel, that is used to burn paper, like bills and other paper with important info into my gardens? Thanks for any info. Newbie

Most competitive growers are starting their seeds between now and the end of April, With set out dates between the 8th and 15th of May. It really depends on how well drained your patch is. If you have sandy, well drained soils now is good. I have heavy cold soil, I will probably start on Wedensday.

I would be careful of ashes from a burn barrel. Wood ashes are an excellent source of potash, however burn barrel ashes could be laced with contaminants that may cause problems.
