I've always hardened off seedlings in the past, but is it really necessary if they're only a week old and being put out in a hoop house. Charlie

If they are only a week old get them outside. By the time you spend a week hardening them off they will be too big. Thats one advantage of getting them out as soon as you can see the first seed leaf.
