THIS MORNING WHILE SIPPING MY COFFEE AND PREPARING FOR THE DAYS EVENTS ( WHICH ARE PRETTY UNEVENTFUL ONCE YOU HAVE RETIRED ) MY THOUGHTS DRIFTED TO THE RECENT SEED AUCTION HELD ON BP TO BENEFIT THE JEFF GLOVER FAMILY.
I KNOW I CAN SPEAK FOR MANY OF US WHEN I SAY IT TRUELY IS BETTER TO GIVE THAN RECEIVE AND, THE MORE TIME YOU HAVE TO REFLECT THE MORE YOU REALIZE THERES ALWAYS SOMEONE OUT THERE WHOSE MUCH WORSE OFF THAT YOU COULD EVER IMMAGINE.
IT IS ON BEHALF OF THESE PEOPLE I SUBMITT THE FOLLOWING FOR DISCUSSION
FORMATION OF THE ORANGE ANGELS OF BP FOUNDATION
I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST WE START BY
1. COMPILE A LIST OF VOLUNTEERS WHO SOLE PURPOSE WOULD BE TO FORM A VOLUNTEER GROUP CALLED " ORANGE ANGELS OF BP " 2. SELECT OFFICERS AND FILE FOR TAX EXEMPT NOT FOR PROFIT STATUS IE- PRES-VP-TRES-RECORDING SEC-OFFICERS AT LARGE 3. DEVELOPE GUIDLINES FOR REQUESTING SEEDS AND OR CASH DONATIONS AND MERCHANDISE FROM CLUBS AND/OR GROWERS 4. DEVELOPE GUIDLINES TO APPLY FOR A ORANGE ANGELS GRANT EXAMPLE, HARDSHIP, COLLEGE, HEALTH INTERVENTION 5. TIE THE WHOLE PACKAGE IN WITH THE GIANT PUMPKIN GROWING COMMUNITY THE WORLD OVER
I WILL GO ON RECORD THAT PAP WALLACE IS WILLING TO WORK WITH AN ORGANIZATION SUCH AS THIS. THAT I WOULD WORK WELL WITH OTHERS FOR A COMMON GOAL AND WOULD EXPECT NOTHING LESS FROM ANYONE ELSE IN THE GROUP. THERE ARE MANY BP PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT HAVE THE ABILITY AND THE EDCUATION TO PULL THIS OFF AND, JUST POSSIBLY WOULD ENJOY SLEEPING BETTER AT NIGHT KNOWING THEY HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN A PERSONS LIFE.
IF INTERESTED PLEASE EMAIL ME AT [email protected] I WILL HELP GET THE BALL ROLLING AND WE CAN SEE WHERE IT GOES FROM THERE.

As I sit here drinking my coffee, getting ready for Spring Break with my boys, I read this great post. This is what I do daily and this morning is different. After seeing the first paragraph, tears come to my eyes. I don't think I will ever forget that day nor will Jeff. You have all made such a difference in my life. The friends I have made and the commitment that you all gave was overwhelming. I have sat and thought many, many times about what I would of done without you. Some of you may think, "awe,,,she would of been fine", but that's not true. To this day I'm not fine but you made it easier for me. In case you did not know, the benefit auction PAID IN FULL for Jeffs funeral. He did not have life insurance and all I thought about was, "how was I going to pay for a 7500.00 funeral." I had paid 2000.00 out of my savings on it and that completely wiped out that. So you sit and wonder, now the boys. How am I going to take care of them? Remember this,,, God provides. He has taken care of me this far and will continue to do so. Most days I am smiling when I enter the chat room and then some I come and watch with tears rolling down my face knowing I should not be the one sitting here. But it wasn't meant to be in God's eyes. I for one would like to be part of this Orange Angel Group. Even if it's just sending out emails for you pap. I cannot express enough gratitiude or love that comes from my heart daily. You all did this for us and asked nothing in return. So if I can give just a little bit back, I would be so thankful. You are all angels in my eyes...I love ya'll.
See, there are those tears again...I sure do miss him...

I do not know anything about forming groups, or any of the offical positions, etc. But I would also be proud to help represent Germany and Europe in anything that I can do.
Count me in.

Pap.......your real colors are appearing daily as I watch and read your posts. They also show clearly in your support and production of your CD.
I am ready to say yes definately yes this is the right place, the right time and the right person to be fostering start up ideas for the Orange Angels.
I followed the seed auction for Ally with great pride and joy. It is evident that Ally was in need and some of those needs were promptly met by some great people.
To state my interest I will volunteer to be a first call person to anyone in need within four hours of where I live, Williamsport, Pa., to any person with serious imediate need as determined, by said key indivuals. For the time being, I would pledge $100.00 in cash hand delivered within two days from approvial. That would cover groceries, gasoline or whatever during a most difficult hour. I will go within such an area upon notice for personal contact to help get someone over the first few days of difficulty.
Please E or call me as this excellent idea grows. I would very much like to help.
I here in challenge others to step forward to support this idea.
You may be assured that friends associated with BP.com have been quietly most helpfull in my personal life's difficulty. No other group has been more importent.
I will travel if necessary to work with you on this at your pleasure....and I don't even want a 1068 in return. :)

Doc, I like that idea about a pledge. Got me thinking, I will pledge 10 dollars per 100 pounds of the heaviest AG from 2007. If I am not off that would have been 150 dollars last year.
So, if someone grows a 2000 pound AG next year I will send 200 dollars to the "Orange Angels of BP Foundation".
I give to many foundations each year, but I never thought that growing AGs might be a way to help those that can not help themselves.
A great idea.

The CT GS&PGA is here for you Dick. It is much easier to set this up as a not-for-profit since the educational guise need not be dealt with. Great idea. Let us know what we can do to help.

What a great idea. We are involved with The Helping Hand House here in Washington. We would be glad to donate money or products to this cause as well. Perhaps we could do something like $5.00 for every video in a month or whatever would work well to help get the organization off to a good start.

Great idea, Pap! Here's a suggestion to build up an initial reserve and awareness. Hold an Orange Angels auction, even without any individual in mind, to get seed money, so to speak.

Thanks to pap, and Mike, who might have been the inspiration for this, with his incredible effort with putting together the 1st Glover auction, what a great event. Mike, you weren't the only one who shed a tear. Kudo's to you for your effort, and all power to pap for attempting to take this to a higher level. All power to this community....let's continue to GROW together!!! Peace, Wayne

we dont necessarily need to take this to the highest levels. we can take it in steps. ( lets allow ourselves to burn out slowly at first lol)
we will meet in bp off topic chat say in a week or two ----( gives us all time to think on a roll for ourselves ), decide for ourselves what we are able to take on.
and we go from there?
ill be in touch so those that replied expect an email in a week or so.

I'd be happy to help in any way I can! Count me in! I have a great fundraiser idea I've been planning for our local no-kill animal shelter and Geisinger Childrens Hospital. I imagine that we could do it for The Orange Angels also. I planned on donating two of my pumpkins this year to the places to display at a county fair or event of thier choosing. We would sell guesses of the pumpkins weight at $1.00 a guess. The person would right down thier name, address and phone number on the guess. At the end of the event we would weigh the pumpkin and determine the winner. 25 percent of the money raised would go to the winner and the rest of the money would be donated to the organization. This is just a budding idea that would need some fine tuning. We have a couple of events near where I live and I'm sure they would let us do this. Maybe a couple of people around the country could do this and send the money to the Orange Angels Fund. Just a thought!
