I'm growing a couple of good AG pumpkins around april 25th, would it be ok to start growing a smaller pumpkin type now without it cross pollinating? I know this question had to come up a while ago I just could not find it in the search.
Thanks! Jason

If you control the pollinations on your AG's then you have nothing to worry about. Now if you leave them open to the bee's. They can cross with any C Maxima. A Field Pumpkin with a hard stem is most likely going to be a C Pepo. These two will not cross. There is also a C Moschata and and another one called C agro (something) these sometimes can cross with C maxima. Google" Cucurbita cross pollination" to read more

Just FYI, if you didn't know, whatever the cross is on your pumpkin this year, (whatever C. maxima variety pollinates it) your AG will still grow the same. The results of the cross won't show up until you grow the seeds from it next year.
